LTV Steel Wins Toyota Quality Award

    CLEVELAND, March 7 LTV Steel today announced that it has
received the Quality Achievement Award from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Inc.
The award recognizes the consistently high quality steel products made by LTV
for Toyota during 1999. LTV produces a full line of value-added flat rolled
steel for Toyota's plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, its parts suppliers, and the
New United Motors Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) -- an automotive joint venture
between Toyota and General Motors in California.
    "Toyota is a long-standing, valued customer of LTV Steel," said David E
Althoff, vice president, sales and marketing-automotive. "We appreciate this
award very much; not only does it recognize our performance in 1999, it also
signifies our commitment to meet Toyota's high standard of quality in the
future."
