New E-commerce Event Revolutionizes the $145 Billion Corporate Procurement Marketplace

    NEWTON,Mass.--March 7,2000--RSA Group announces the launch of SupplyWebExchange(SM) 2000 Conference and Exposition, the first tradeshow dedicated to creators and users of Internet trading exchanges and portals, on November 28-30, 2000, at the Holiday Inn O'Hare International hotel in Chicago, IL.
    This new event will address the technical, business strategy, and implementation requirements of corporate, government, and industry Web-based trading exchanges and portals. It will help procurement, information technology, and business executives to use fast-evolving Internet and XML technologies and standards to consolidate their suppliers online and streamline their procurement and key business-to-business processes.
    "The GM/Ford/DaimlerChrysler alliance, Sears/Carrefour partnership, and DuPont/Chemdex joint venture are in the early stages of developing global online marketplaces designed to streamline business with their many suppliers," said Tom Friedman, president of RSA Group and show principal of SupplyWebExchange 2000. "We are creating an event that will help the creators and users of these Web-based trading exchanges make educated business decisions in order to maximize their investments."
    SupplyWebExchange 2000 will become the major conference and exposition on Web-based trading exchanges and portals for all major industry sectors in the US, Asia, and Europe. SupplyWebExchange events are scheduled for outside the US in 2001. These events represent the cross-industry collaborative effort between RSA Group and an advisory board of top industry procurement, IT and business executives from major corporations, independent trading exchanges, major software companies, and trade association executives.
    SupplyWebExchange 2000 will include a full-day pre-conference on XML Integration Strategies and a two-day conference on infrastructure, Web site development, e-commerce, back-end systems integration, inter-company document transfers, and business strategy, such as partner collaboration, Web-based buying and selling practices and financial settlements.
    The event will also feature more than 50 major exhibitors, including companies dedicated to Web-based trading technology, technical infrastructure, e-consulting, independent trading exchanges, application services, financial processing, order management, catalog management, and XML enablers and integrators.
