Carlisle -CSL- Creates Office of the Chairman and Appoints a President

    SYRACUSE, NY--March 7, 2000--Carlisle Companies Inc. announced today the creation of the Office of the Chairman and two executive appointments commensurate with the establishment of the Office of the Chairman.
    Richmond McKinnish, currently President of Carlisle Tire and Wheel, has been appointed President of Carlisle Companies Inc. The position of President of Carlisle Companies Inc. had not been occupied for a little over a year. In addition to his responsibilities that currently include Carlisle Tire and Wheel, Tensolite, Carlisle FoodService Products, Motion Control and Industrial Braking and Friction products, Rick will also assume reporting responsibility for Carlisle SynTec, Carlisle's commercial roofing division.
    Dennis Hall, Vice Chairman of Carlisle, will have operating responsibility for Carlisle Engineered Products, Transportation Products and the Systems Equipment Group. All headquarters staff functions which includes corporate finance, legal, corporate development and investor relations will report to Dennis.
    Mr. McKinnish joined Carlisle in 1980 and has held executive positions at Carlisle Engineered Products, Tensolite and Carlisle Tire & Wheel. He was appointed Executive Vice President of Carlisle in February 1999. Mr. Hall joined Carlisle in 1989 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and was appointed President in 1995. Mr. Hall was appointed Vice Chairman in 1999. Both Mr. McKinnish and Mr. Hall will report to Mr. Munn, Carlisle's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in the Office of the Chairman.
