Automotive Writers' Group to Hear Ford Executive's ProclaimationPremier Automotive Group Executive Director Vic Doolan To Address Motor Press Guild March 7 Victor Doolan, executive director, North America, marketing and distribution strategy, Premier Automotive Group (PAG) of Ford Motor Company, will tell the story behind the PAG's move to Irvine, Calif. to the Motor Press Guild (MPG), one of the largest organizations of automotive journalists and industry leaders, based in Los Angeles. Doolan's appearance takes place today at the monthly meeting of MPG at 11:30 a.m. PST, at The Proud Bird Restaurant near LAX. Ford recently announced (Feb. 24) that it would consolidate the North American headquarters of its Premier Automotive Group of luxury cars (Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lincoln and Volvo) in Orange County, California. The Aston Martin, Jaguar and Volvo executive offices were moved from their current headquarters in New Jersey, joining the Lincoln, which moved from Dearborn, Michigan, in 1998. A new building for the organizations will be constructed. Doolan will tell the story behind the consolidation and explain why he feels Southern California is becoming the center of the North American luxury automobile industry. On display will be an Aston Martin DB7, Jaguar S-Type, Lincoln LS and Volvo S80. MPG, is a Los Angeles-based non-profit professional organization dedicated to promoting education and information exchange within the motoring press, is one of the largest organizations in the country of journalists, public relations and automotive industry professionals. In addition to its lunch meetings on the first Tuesday of the month from February through October, the group hosts an annual Track Day, a year-end banquet at the Petersen Auto Museum where the Dean Batchelor Award for journalistic excellence is presented and produces a monthly newsletter, Mile Post, and an annual Roster & Media Guide.
