NASCAR- Dodge Asks Race Fans: 'Who Will be Our Next Driver?'

7 March 2000

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--Keeping up with the latest racing rumors?

Dodge figures NASCAR racing fans keep up to date on the latest news and
gossip. But how informed are they?

Dodge will launch an internet-based poll of NASCAR fans to find out who
they think will be the next driver to be named to take the wheel of a Dodge
Intrepid R/T in the 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup season.

Fans will get their answer soon enough -- NASCAR team owner and Dodge
Motorsports development partner Ray Evernham will host a 9:35 a.m. press
conference this Friday, March 10 at Atlanta Motor Speedway to name the first
of two drivers to race the Evernham Motorsports entries.

Dodge is conducting a major radio and internet promotion to reach fans who
can then log on to Dodge's website and show off their insider racing knowledge.
The first 30,000 respondents will receive a commemorative Dodge Motorsports hat
as a token of appreciation.

"Ever since we made the announcement that Dodge would enter the NASCAR
Winston Cup Series in 2001, we've heard all kinds of rumors about which
drivers would drive the two Dodge-sponsored Intrepids," said Jim Julow, Vice
President, Dodge Division. "This will be a great test of fan insight."

"I've been 'dodging' this question long enough," said Evernham. "I'll be
anxious to see the results of the poll. I'm real excited about our
announcement. We've got big plans for next year."

On October 14, the Dodge Division and its 2,900 dealers announced they
would return to NASCAR Winston Cup racing after an absence of more than 15
years. On February 19, the first five of seven Dodge Intrepid drivers were
announced, including Ward Burton, Dave Blaney, Kyle Petty, Adam Petty and John
Andretti. Evernham's March 10, announcement is part of the Dodge 500-day
countdown to the start of the 2001 NASCAR season at Daytona International
Speedway.
