Dow Automotive Announces Key Management AppointmentsAUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 6 Lawrence A. (Larry) Denton, Dow Automotive president, today announced the formation of the company's Executive Management Team (EMT). The individuals appointed to the EMT will report to Denton. "I'm excited about the talent and the leadership of the team we've assembled," he said. "I am confident this group has the background and experience needed to ensure success for Dow Automotive in the ever- changing automotive industry." George Hamilton has been named Vice President of Automotive Materials. Hamilton joins Dow Automotive with 23 years experience at Dow Plastics -- 12 of which were in sales and marketing of Dow materials to the automotive industry. Hamilton will be responsible for worldwide sales, marketing and customer service of Dow Automotive and Essex product lines. Hamilton previously served as North American commercial director for Engineering Plastics for The Dow Chemical Company. Gary Lawrey joins Dow Automotive as Vice President of Automotive Systems. Lawrey's experience in the automotive industry includes 20 years with Ford Motor Company, where he held a variety of positions in manufacturing and plant operations, most recently serving as advanced engineering manager for the interior and exterior division of Visteon Automotive Systems. He will have responsibility for representing Dow Automotive interests with OEM customers on a global basis as well as Dow Automotive joint venture relationships and parts and module businesses. He also will have responsibility for new business growth in parts and modules. Lawrey will continue to support initiatives for future application and growth for the materials side of Dow Automotive. Timothy L. Nasso has been named Vice President of Global Communications. He joined Dow Automotive in May 1999 as executive director of marketing communications. Prior to joining Dow Automotive, Nasso was a vice president at Caponigro Public Relations where he managed the international accounts practice. Before that, he served as director of public affairs at the Consulate of Italy in Detroit, managing all aspects of public relations, trade development, and cultural and governmental affairs, including consulting U.S. and Italian companies on communications issues and joint ventures and acquisitions. Nasso is responsible for managing advertising and public relations activities, internal and external communications and public affairs for Dow Automotive. Luis Lorenzo has been named Global Director of Application Development and Engineering. In this position, he will be responsible for application development efforts involving advanced marketing, advanced technology and design and engineering. He will evaluate and manage The Dow Chemical Company product portfolio to ensure commercially viable applications are developed for the automotive market. Lorenzo joined The Dow Chemical Company in 1989 as a project leader in Dow's Materials Engineering Center (MEC) -- Corporate R&D, later serving as MEC automotive group leader. He joined Dow Automotive in 1997 and most recently served as executive director of global advanced application development. Keith Marchiando has been named Global Finance Director. He joined The Dow Chemical Company in 1997, most recently serving as director of finance for the Adhesives, Sealants and Coatings business. Marchiando previously was with Ford Motor Company in component manufacturing and product development finance. In his new position, Marchiando will have primary responsibility for finance and strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, customer financial services, purchasing, and information technology. Kathy McCreedy has been named Director of Global Research and Development. She will lead R&D and technical service and development efforts for Dow Automotive. McCreedy has been with The Dow Chemical Company since 1975, and has held several key leadership positions with Dow R&D. Her most recent position was director of R&D for the Adhesives, Sealants and Coatings business. Debbie Mox has been named Global Human Resources Business Partner. She will provide human resource support to Dow Automotive, the newly formed business unit of The Dow Chemical Company. Mox joined The Dow Chemical Company in 1970 and has held several HR positions. In addition to her responsibilities for Dow Automotive, Mox will continue to support human resource activity for Engineering Plastics, a business group of The Dow Chemical Company. Steve Smid has been named Business Operations Director. He will be responsible for manufacturing at Dow Automotive facilities worldwide. Smid has been with The Dow Chemical Company since 1979, and has held several key positions in manufacturing and production, most recently serving as global technology leader for Dow's compounding technology center in Freeport, Texas.
