Simula, Inc.'s Safety Restraint Technology Contributes to Major Delphi Contract Award; Award Totals $50 Million in Annual Business to Delphi

DETROIT--March 6, 2000--Simula, Inc. noted that the contracts for head airbag modules announced by Delphi Automotive Systems at "SAE 2000 World Congress" today in Detroit result from the joint development of a curtain airbag employing Simula's Inflatable Tubular Structure (ITS(R)) technology.
"The market acceptance of Delphi's head protection system is evident in the fact that to date the company has secured contracts totaling more than $50 million in annual business," said Donald W. Townsend, president and CEO of Simula, Inc. "We are extremely proud to have contributed to Delphi's success in this major new business award, particularly to the degree that Simula's ITS is being employed in Delphi's portfolio of Advanced Safety Interior technologies."
Advanced Safety Interior(TM) (ASI) is Delphi Automotive Systems' evolving portfolio of safety technologies designed to provide protection in frontal, side and rear collisions, and in vehicle rollover situations. Simula's Inflatable Tubular Structure (ITS) is a patented airbag technology that is the basis of a family of products designed to provide side-impact and rollover protection to vehicle occupants.
SAE 2000 World Congress is sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers (www.sae.org), an internationally recognized educational and scientific organization of the automotive industry comprising 80,000 members around the world.
