PRE-SEASON OPEN PRACTICE AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY

BIG WET ONE CANCELS IRWINDALE'S MARCH 5 OPEN PRACTICE 
LAST PRE-SEASON OPEN PRACTICE DAYS SET FOR MARCH 18 -19

A major rainstorm wiped out Sunday (March 5)'s scheduled practice session at 
Irwindale Speedway leaving pre-season open testing to the weekend of March 18 -19.  
On March 18 all of the track's regular weekly NASCAR divisions (Super Late Model, 
Late Model, Grand American Modified, Super Stock, and Mini-Stock) will practice 
along with the three visiting truck divisions (Spec, Speed, and American Race 
Trucks).   

A special season  preview "Spring Training 2000" will be staged for the 
fans between 5 and 9 pm on Saturday (March 18) evening when the facility's grandstands 
and parking will be open to the general public at no charge.  There will be 
special prices on food from the snack bars as well as on Inaugural Year 
souvenir merchandise. 

PLEASE NOTE:  SATURDAY MARCH 18 DURING THE HOURS OF 5 - 9 PM 
WILL BE THE ONLY OPEN-TO-THE-PUBLIC VIEWING OF IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY 
OPEN PRACTICE SESSIONS.

On Sunday, March 19 all "touring" or visiting classes and divisions will be on 
track and practicing by their various groups from noon until 6pm.  This day includes 
all open wheel (USAC, SRL, Super Modifieds, etc.) race cars that compete at Irwindale.

Irwindale Speedway will celebrate Opening Night 2000 on March 25, 2000, kicking 
off a 36-event season of great racing action at "LA's ½-Mile Super Speedway".
