Intermet New River Foundry Accident

    TROY, Mich., March 6 Intermet Corporation's
New River Foundry located in Radford, Virginia, had a major explosion from yet
undetermined causes at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.  There apparently
has been a fatality, two people missing, and several injured.  Our biggest
current concern is the welfare of those involved and their families.
    We are cooperating with authorities to determine the extent of the
injuries and the cause of the explosion.
    We will provide more information as it becomes available.
