REMINDER/Top Supplier Execs to Receive Prestigious French Automotive Award in Detroit, March 7

    Three top executive officers of three leading automotive suppliers will accept awards on behalf of their companies at the Fifth Annual Invest in France Automotive Awards Ceremony and Reception, Tuesday evening March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Top of the Pontch Ballroom at the Hotel Pontchartrain in Detroit.
    Craig H. Muhlhauser, president of Visteon Automotive Systems; Robert W. Paton, president of ACT Laboratories, and Jeffrey I. Sinclair, president of Honeywell Turbocharging Systems will each receive a limited edition crystal automobile designed and fabricated by the world-renowned glasswork manufacturer Compagnie Francaise du Cristal Daum, established in Lorraine in 1878.
    The Invest in France Automotive Award is presented by the Invest in France Agency to honor leading North American automotive companies who have a significant presence in France. The Invest in France Agency (IFA) is the French government agency for foreign investment. IFA's mission is to foster and facilitate international companies' business development in France. Since 1996, the award has been presented during the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress & Expo (SAE) in Detroit, with 17 North American corporations in the automotive industry receiving this honor.
    The Invest in France Automotive Awards are held under the patronage of His Excellency Didier Lombard, Ambassador-at-Large, Special Representative of France for international Investment; the Honorable Jean-Rene Gehan, Consul General of France in Chicago; and Remi Girardot, President, Invest in France Agency, North America.
    The awards for the year 2000 will be presented to:

-- Visteon Automotive Systems, for opening its Interiors Systems Europe headquarters in Paris and significantly expanding its manufacturing capabilities in France. With seven plants in France, the Interiors Systems division also maintains a leading-edge Interiors Technical Center, offering vehicle manufacturers innovative technical systems including: superintegrated cockpits, onboard electronics, climate control systems, driver's information and multimedia.
-- Honeywell Turbocharging Systems, for achieving the milestone of producing 10 million turbochargers at the Garrett manufacturing facility which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in Thaon-les-Vosges.
-- ACT Laboratories, for establishing an initial automotive components testing facility in Hoerdt, just north of Strasbourg. This unit will create about 50 new jobs and generate an investment of $2 million. Operations will begin in the first half of this year and increase over the next three years.
