CHAMPIONSHIP AUTO RACING TEAMS PARTNERS WITH THE SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE
ENGINEERS

DETROIT (March 3, 2000) - Championship Auto Racing Teams
will kick off a year-long partnership with the Society of Automotive
Engineers by participating in the 2000 SAE International Congress and
Exposition, March 6 - 9 at Cobo Center in Detroit.

"Partnering with the SAE, CART and the FedEx Championship
Series will gain us a tremendous amount of exposure to an international
audience," said Patrick Leahy, Senior Vice President of Marketing for
CART.
"This group fits well within Champ Car racing's target demographic."

The partnership will also include CART's participation in
The Motorsports Engineering Conference and Exposition, November 13-16 at
the
Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan, and the SAE's participation in
numerous
at-track programs during the 2000 FedEx Championship Series season.

The theme of the 2000 SAE International Congress and
Exposition is, "Adding Value to Life through Technology and Advanced
Mobility." CART's objective in participating in the show is to highlight
technology in racing, as well as promote CART and the FedEx Championship
Series.

The CART display will showcase items from its various
sponsors, featuring the advanced technology involved in Champ Car racing.
A
Toyota Champ Car engine; Ford's Blue Box crash data recorder; Reynard's
Aerodynamic display and a Firestone Tire display are among the items that
will be exhibited.

Another element of the partnership calls for CART to invite
up to 100 members of local Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) sections
to
the track to get an "inside look" at the CART FedEx Championship Series
during the 2000 season.

"This is an important demographic group to CART," said
Leahy. "SAE consists of 80,000-plus members, all of whom are predisposed
toward the attributes of CART, i.e. technology and speed."

Tours will take place on Thursday of race weekend from 3 - 5
p.m. and are scheduled for Nazareth, Pa.; Chicago, Ill.; Cleveland, Ohio;
Vancouver, B.C.; Brooklyn, Mich.; and Fontana, Calif.

Members will be given a brief explanation of, then tour the
work areas of CART Technical Inspection, Timing & Scoring, Race Control,
the CART Safety Team and a FedEx Championship Series team. The tours will
be
followed by a question-and-answer session.

In addition to the conference in March, CART will also be
participating in the SAE Motorsports Engineering Conference & Exposition
in
November.

The three-day technical conference and exposition will focus
on all forms of professional motorsports technology. The opening day will
be devoted to tours of Detroit-based, race-related industries. The
technical program will consist of presentations of written papers on the
latest technology in the industry. In addition, the conference will
conduct
panel discussions on vehicle systems design, engine systems design,
safety/regulations, and the business aspects of racing.

The SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers, Inc.) is a
non-profit educational and scientific organization dedicated to the
advancement of mobility technology to better serve humanity. Nearly
80,000
engineers and scientists who are SAE members develop technical information
on all forms of self-propelled vehicles including automobiles, trucks and
buses, off-highway equipment, aircraft, aerospace vehicles, marine, rail,
and transit systems. SAE disseminates this information through its
meetings,
books, technical papers, magazines, standards, reports, continuing
education
programs, and electronic databases.

Championship Auto Racing Teams, Inc. owns,
operates and markets the FedEx Championship Series, which, in 2000, is
comprised of 20 races in five countries on four continents. Champions Juan
Montoya, Michael Andretti and Jimmy Vasser are among the drivers who
battle
for the series title on oval circuits as well as temporary and permanent
road courses. CART also owns and operates its top two development series
-the Dayton Indy Lights Championship and the Toyota Atlantic Championship.
