FOYT, BRACK JOIN FORCES FOR INDIANAPOLIS 500 ENTRY Four-time Indy winner also fields entries for Ward, Salazar INDIANAPOLIS, Friday, March 3, 2000 - Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt filed three entries for the 84th Indianapolis 500 on March 3, one of which is a partnership between Foyt and 1999 Indianapolis 500 winner Kenny Brack. Foyt's regular Northern Light Indy Racing Series drivers Jeff Ward and Eliseo Salazar are listed as drivers for the other two entries. Ward will drive the #14 Harrah^s-A.J. Foyt Racing G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone, and Salazar will drive the #11 Rio-A.J. Foyt Racing G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone. No driver has been named yet for the #41 A.J. Foyt/Kenny Brack Motorsports G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone. Backup machines have been entered for all three teams. "Kenny Brack and I decided to enter a car together," Foyt said. "We don't know who^s going to drive yet." Brack won the 1999 Indianapolis 500 winner and 1998 Indy Racing League championship while driving for Foyt. Brack now drives for Team Rahal in CART. Ward, of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., is now in his fourth year of Northern Light Indy Racing Series competition. He won Indianapolis 500 Bank One Rookie of the Year honors in 1997 by finishing third. He placed 13th in 1998 and tied his career-best league finish with a second place in 1999 at Indy. Salazar started the 2000 Indy Racing season, his 26th year of motorsports competition, by finishing fifth in the Delphi Indy 200 at Walt Disney World Speedway on Jan. 29 in his debut race with Foyt's team. Salazar, of Santiago, Chile, first raced in the Indianapolis 500 in 1995 for team owner Dick Simon and scored his best Indy finish, fourth, that year. He has one Northern Light Indy Racing Series win, at Las Vegas in 1997. David Milby is chief mechanic for Ward^s entry, Bill Spencer is chief mechanic for Salazar, and Craig Baranouski will fulfill chief mechanic duties for the Foyt-Brack entry.
