Tecumseh Signs, Extends Sponsorship with ASA Announcement Includes Continuation of Tecumseh 300 Grafton, Wis. (March 2, 2000) - Tecumseh Products Company and the American Speed Association jointly announced that the engine manufacturer will continue its partnership with the ASA ACDelco Series as the Official Small Engines Provider. As part of the multi-year agreement, Tecumseh acknowledged it will sponsor the July 22 ASA ACDelco Series event at Salem Speedway in Salem (Ind.) for the second-consecutive year. Tecumseh, the world's largest manufacturer of engines and transaxles in the lawn and garden industry, began its involvement with ASA as a team sponsor in 1997 when it signed a one-race deal, which developed into a multi-race program with then LaFavre Racing Teams driver Kevin Cywinski. Tecumseh increased its involvement in 1999,when it joining the series as an official sponsor. The involvement with the ASA ACDelco Series has allows Tecumseh to continue to develop a marketing and promotional plan, integrating employee, dealer and customer events around race weekend activities. Tecumseh's involvement will also include a commercial television presence along with several in-car camera exposures during the season. In 1999, Tecumseh sponsored the Tecumseh 300 at Salem (Ind.) Speedway around the annual International Lawn Garden and Outdoor Power Equipment Expo going on at the same time in Louisville, Ky. The event weekend included many activities that directly involved a number of Tecumseh^s clients. "Tecumseh is very pleased that we have worked out a multi-year agreement to continue supporting the American Speed Association," said Tecumseh Motorsports Coordinator Dick Melius. "We are looking to repeat and enhance the success of the Tecumseh 300 at Salem Speedway from last year. We are happy to be involved with the positive changes debuting in the 2000 ASA ACDelco Series." Tecumseh also recently announced that it agreed to continue sponsorship of the number 1 Chevrolet driven by Mike Garvey with LaFavre Racing. That agreement continues the association between Tecumseh and LaFavre Racing for an additional four years. Tecumseh Products Company is a full-line independent global manufacturer of hermetic compressors for air conditioning and refrigeration products, gasoline engines and power train products for lawn and garden applications and pumps.
