State Automobile Mutual Elects New Director

    COLUMBUS, Ohio--March 3, 2000--Paul J. Otte today was elected to the board of directors of State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company. Otte is president of Franklin University, an independent institution of higher learning in central Ohio serving over 5,000 students.
    Prior to joining Franklin in 1986, Otte was the vice president for business at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan. He joined Macomb in late 1975 as director of business services. From 1969 through November 1975, Otte was employed by the Detroit office of Arthur Young and Company, beginning as a staff accountant and rising to manager of personnel development and administration.
    A nationally known trainer, Otte has designed and taught professional development courses for over 20 state CPA associations. He earned his BS (1968) and MBA (1969) degrees from Wayne State University and a doctorate (1983) in educational leadership from Western Michigan University. He is a graduate of the Leadership Detroit Program and has taught at Wayne State University, University of Detroit, Macomb Community College and Franklin University. He has been a guest lecturer in the Higher Education Leadership Program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and is an Honorary Professor of the Tyumen International Institute of Economics and Law.
    State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company is a regional property and casualty insurance company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio engaged primarily in writing personal and commercial automobile, homeowners, commercial multi-peril, workers' compensation and fire insurance. The company currently markets its products through more than 13,000 agents associated with approximately 2,200 agencies in 26 states. Products are marketed primarily in the Midwest and Eastern United States, excluding New York, New Jersey and the New England states.
