State Auto Promotes Three to Vice President

    COLUMBUS, Ohio--March 3, 2000--State Auto Mutual Insurance Company's board of directors today elected John Petrucci, Cynthia Powell and William Hansen vice presidents. Petrucci was recently named the company's director of sales, Powell is State Auto's comptroller and Hansen is director of actuarial services.
    Petrucci joined State Auto's sales department in 1996 as its agency development specialist after a 13-year career with Allstate Insurance Company. In 1998 he was promoted to branch manager of State Auto's Eastern Regional Office and was named director of corporate sales in January of this year. Petrucci is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in political science. He holds the CPCU designation.
    Powell, a certified public accountant, spent three years with KPMG Peat Marwick before joining State Auto in 1990. She has worked extensively with State Auto affiliate State Auto Financial Corporation's (STFC) GAAP financial statements and will now also be responsible for overseeing the preparation of all the State Auto Insurance Companies' statutory financial statements. Powell earned a bachelor's degree in economics from John Carroll University.
    Hansen joined State Auto in 1990 as an actuarial analyst. In 1992 he was promoted to manager of actuarial pricing and was named manager of actuarial services in 1995. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering form the University of Pennsylvania and became a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society in 1995.
    State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company is a regional property and casualty insurance company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, engaged primarily in writing personal and commercial automobile, homeowners, commercial multi-peril, workers' compensation and fire insurance. The company currently markets its products through more than 13,000 agents associated with approximately 2,200 agencies in 26 states. Products are marketed primarily in the Midwest and Eastern United States, excluding New York, New Jersey and the New England states.
