CIOPPETTINI CONFIRMED AS THIRD DRIVER FOR VICTORIA MOTORSPORTS ASSAULT ON 2000

3 March 2000

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series veteran Frank
Cioppettini will fill the final position for Victoria Motorsports 2000
campaign, joining the previously announced Willy T. Ribbs and Stu Hayner in the only
three-car effort announced to date.
"We've put together a team that we expect to challenge for the
BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series Championship," said June Cioppettini, Victoria
Motorsports Co-Owner. Frank wasn't ready to hang up his helmet yet, so we'll let him
have some fun, too."
Cioppettini, of Far Hills, N.J., will drive the No. 6 Clover Enterprises Chevrolet Camaro.
"I've sold a part of my business, the record storage business, so I
have time to devote myself fully to the race team," said Frank Cioppettini.
"With all the attention that Willy T. and Stu have gathered, I got to thinking that my
arch rival, Don Sak, might assume he was going to have an easy time of it this
year. I just want to dispel any rumors, and let Sak know that I will get the
better of him this year."
Cioppettini will enter his fifth season of Trans-Am Series competition
this year. He has one top-10 finish in 35 starts. Previously, Cioppettini
participated in the SCCA amateur racing Valvoline Runoffs in GT4 in 1992
and 1993, moving up to GT1 in 1994. He made his Trans-Am Series debut at Lime
Rock in 1996, and contested his first full season in 1998.
Victoria Motorsports has assembled a skilled crew to field the cars
for Cioppettini, Ribbs and Hayner. Stan Peters will return as Team Manager,
while Joshua Speer will be the Crew Chief for Cioppettini. Mark Wilsdon joins
the team as Crew Chief for Ribbs, assisted by Mike Weatherford, while Alex
Maginness, Chief Mechanic in 1999 for Brian Simo, will be the Crew Chief for Hayner.
Veteran CART and Indy Lights man Steve Erikson is acting Team Engineer.
