Rigaku Acquires Osmic

Rigaku Acquires Osmic
    TROY, Mich., March 3 -- Rigaku/USA, Inc. Danvers,
Massachusetts announced that they have completed the acquisition of Osmic,
Inc., a Troy, Michigan based manufacturer of X-ray optics.  The acquisition by
Rigaku was approved at a special meeting of Osmic stockholders held on
February 22.
    "We are acquiring Osmic because of their outstanding history of product
innovation, customer service and success in their current markets," said
Hikaru Shimura, President and CEO of Rigaku International Corp.  "Osmic has
long been a critical supplier of X-ray optics to Rigaku and other X-ray
instrument manufacturing companies and I fully support Osmic's continued
operation as an independent business serving customers in their current
analytical X-ray instrument market and their aggressive plans to expand into
Medical and Microlithography markets," continued Mr. Shimura.
    "The acquisition by Rigaku strengthens Osmic's ability to more quickly
bring new products to market and all of us at Osmic welcome the opportunity to
work closely with a world-class company like Rigaku," said John H. Carosella,
Osmic President and Chief Operating Officer.
    Osmic is a leading producer of X-ray optics.  The Company's products are
used worldwide in analytical instruments used for material analysis; and for
advanced research in microlithography, medical sample analysis and high-energy
physics.  Osmic joins the US operations of Rigaku, which include Rigaku/USA,
Inc. and Molecular Structures Corporation, The Woodlands, Texas.
