Toyota Announces Prices for All-New Camry Solara Convertible

    TORRANCE, Calif., March 1 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., today announced Manufacturers Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) for
the all-new 2000 Camry Solara convertible, scheduled to go on sale April 17.
    The Camry Solara convertible will be offered in both SE and SLE trim
levels.  It will be powered by a standard 2.2-liter 132 horsepower
four-cylinder or optional 3.0-liter 200 horsepower V6 engine matched to a
standard four-speed electronically controlled transmission.  The Solara
convertible SE with the four-cylinder engine will carry a MSRP of $25,068.
The V6 version of the SE will receive an MSRP of $28,008, while the MSRP for
the SLE V6 will be $30,488.
    The all-new Camry Solara convertible adds an extra dose of attitude, image
and presence to the popular Solara Coupe.  Designed, engineered and built in
North America, the Solara convertible was created specifically for the
American market.
    All Camry Solaras are built exclusively at Toyota Motor Manufacturing,
Canada (TMMC) in Cambridge, Ontario.  The Solara convertible's power-folding
soft-top convertible roof will feature a full headliner, automatic-down power
rear-quarter windows and a large glass rear window.  An available 300-watt
premium JBL sound system was specifically designed for the Solara convertible.
The system features top-down/top-up equalization that automatically adjusts
bass, midrange and high ranges depending on vehicle speed and roof position.
    All Solara convertibles will be equipped with an assortment of high-level
feature content.  Standard-equipment on the SE grade will include power
windows with driver-side auto-down, power door locks and mirrors, air
conditioning, tilt steering wheel, Deluxe AM/FM/Cassette/CD with six speakers
and rear fender power antenna, cruise control, four-wheel ABS (V6 only),
driver- and front-passenger airbags, wood-grain-style trim, fog lamps, rear
spoiler and dual-illuminated vanity mirrors.
    Additional standard-equipment on the SLE V6 grade includes a perforated
leather-trimmed interior with eight-way power adjustable driver's seat,
16-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel ABS, a remote keyless entry with security
system and engine immobilizer, automatic climate control with an outside
temperature gauge, JBL Premium 3-in-1 ETR/Cassette/CD audio system with
300-watt maximum output and seven speakers, power-heated side-view mirrors,
three function HomeLink(R) electronic remote control system and an
auto-dimming electro-chromatic rear-view mirror.
    Annual sales of Solara convertible are projected at 6,000 units.
