Nissan Reports a 21.8 Percent Increase in Sales; Nissan's Strong Sales Momentum Continues

    CARSON, Calif., March 1 -- Led by consistently strong Maxima
and Truck sales, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) saw sales totals rise
21.8 percent in February, reaching a total of 53,949 units.  Some of Nissan's
sales highlights for the month of February include:

    -- Total Nissan truck sales rose 61.7 percent versus February 1999,
       totaling 24,807 units.

    -- Frontier truck sales climbed to 8,808 units in February, a 54.9 percent
       increase versus 1999.  This sales increase was aided by the growing
       popularity of the Crew Cab, which accounted for 44 percent of those
       sales.

    -- The popular Nissan Maxima posted sales of 13,665 units in February,
       marking a 49 percent increase over 1999.

    -- Xterra continued its strong sales with 7,010 units in February

    -- Sentra reported sales of 2,893 units.  An all-new Sentra goes on sale
       at Nissan dealers this month.

    Combined sales for Nissan and Infiniti divisions for February totaled
59,805 units, up 19.5 percent versus last year.  Sales of Nissan's North
American-produced vehicles totaled 34,263 units in February, which accounted
for 63.5 percent of Nissan's total sales volume.
