AK Steel Names Robert C. Sloan to Head Tubular Business

    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio--Feb. 25, 2000--AK Steel today said it had named Robert C. Sloan president of the company's Sawhill Tubular Division. Mr. Sloan joined the company in 1990 as vice president of Sawhill's manufacturing operations, located in Sharon and Wheatland, Pennsylvania and Warren, Ohio. Prior to joining Sawhill, Mr. Sloan held engineering and managerial posts at Babcock and Wilcox and U.S. Steel Corporation. Mr. Sloan holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University and a master's degree in business management from the University of Southern California.
    AK Steel's Sawhill Tubular Division produces standard pipe and tubular products for a number of industrial and commercial markets. AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets, as well as standard pipe and tubular steel products. AK Steel is headquartered in Middletown, Ohio. It employs about 11,000 men and women in plants and offices in Middletown, Coshocton, Mansfield, Warren and Zanesville, Ohio; Ashland, Kentucky; Rockport, Indiana; and Butler, Sharon and Wheatland, Pennsylvania. AK Steel also produces snow and ice control products, and operates a major industrial park on the Houston, Texas ship channel.
