New Software From SAE Solves Paperwork Flood For Automotive Suppliers
WARRENDALE, Pa., Feb. 25 -- For suppliers trying to keep up
with rapidly changing documentation requirements from OEM customers, there is
now a quick and simple solution -- Product Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Software and Performance Support Tool from the Society of Automotive Engineers
(SAE).
The new software, which simplifies and standardizes preparation and
delivery of customer-required documentation to support the PPAP, third
edition, will be introduced by SAE's Professional Development Division at the
SAE 2000 World Congress in Room W2-63 at Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan on
Tuesday, March 7 at 2 p.m.
Users will get specific automotive OEM documents and forms, as well as a
fully detailed training module as part of the software package. Data can be
transferred along the customer-supplier chain easily regardless of the
software differences between various users.
To operate the PPAP software, users need at least Pentium 200 hardware
with 32 megabytes of RAM; Windows(R) 98 and NT, a 1024 x 768 pixel screen
resolution, 16 bit color, a printer or Internet connection, and a sound card.
PPAP software is easy to use. The learning is self-paced and the amount
of training information is compatible with the user's skill and competency
level. Automated interfaces simplify day-to-day documentation tasks, and
program status is immediately available and transmittable.
Significant points of each of the basic documentation requirements are
covered and each information block on the form contains an information popup.
The program also provides training on specific customer documents that are
required but not covered in the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) PPAP
manual.
PPAP Software was developed for SAE by Satama Interactive USA, an
e-business consulting, design and technology firm, located in Dallas, Texas.
