Delphi Earns Excellence Award from NUMMI

Delphi Earns Excellence Award from NUMMITROY, Mich., Feb. 23 -- New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated (NUMMI) presented Delphi Automotive Systems with two supplier awards in recognition of the company's quality, delivery and cost contributions to the 1999 Toyota Corolla and Chevrolet Prizm programs. NUMMI, which is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Manufacturing of North America and General Motors Corp., presented Delphi with two of only 26 direct material awards during the supplier recognition ceremony in San Francisco last week. Delphi Saginaw Steering division's Plants 4 and 5, located in Saginaw, Mich., won the Excellence Award for Delivery for halfshafts. Plants 4 and 5 had 100 percent on-time delivery in 1999 in both regular production and service parts. The plants also exceeded their quality target and generated cost improvements. Delphi Energy & Chassis division's plant in Anaheim, Calif., earned NUMMI's Excellence Award for Cost & Delivery for batteries. The plant met 100 percent of NUMMI's shipping and cost goals for 1999. NUMMI, located in Fremont, Calif., measures on-time delivery, cost and quality in determining if a supplier should win either of the Supplier Excellence Awards. Additionally, Delphi earned five "Certificates of Achievement" for meeting performance targets for Generation II wheel bearings, audio peripherals, interior components, wiring harnesses and sensors.
