Ansoft Announces License Agreement with Delphi Automotive Systems
PITTSBURGH, Feb. 22 -- Ansoft Corporation
announced today the completion of a software licensing agreement with Delphi
Automotive Systems, a global-leader in automotive component and system
technology. The agreement streamlines and simplifies Delphi's purchasing
process of Ansoft's electromagnetic analysis software.
Ansoft's technology enables engineers to accurately design components and
systems such as solenoids, sensors, motors and antennas that exhibit
electromagnetic behavior and are commonly found in automobiles in the form of
anti-lock braking, transmission, safety and mobile communication systems.
This software predicts the performance and behavior of these high performance
electrical devices reducing design time and costs.
"Delphi's integrated systems and modules are designed to help simplify
vehicle manufacturers' processes and meet the demands of today's high-tech
vehicles. Our focus is on customer satisfaction through technology
leadership, quality, world class cost levels and responsiveness," said
Delphi's John A. MacBain, who is responsible for system analysis at the
company's Energenix Center. "Ansoft's technology will help us design our
electromagnetic components and at the same time control costs."
"Designing components that exhibit electromagnetic behavior such as
sensors, solenoids, antennas and motors has become a major part of vehicle
engineering. These components make up systems that control everything from
mechanical movement, flow of engine fluids, emissions and air bag deployment
to navigational systems. Currently, Delphi has 40 installations of Ansoft's
software at various locations each purchased under separate purchasing
agreements. This agreement streamlines the process providing Delphi engineers
greater and faster access to Ansoft's technology", said Ansoft's Mark
Ravenstahl, Director of Sales, EM Products.
Ansoft is a leading developer of high performance EDA software. Ansoft
products are used by engineers to design high performance electrical devices
and systems, such as cellular phones, internet networks, satellites, computer
chips, circuit boards, electronic sensors, and motors. Ansoft markets its
products worldwide through its direct sales force and provides comprehensive
customer support and training.
Delphi Automotive Systems, headquartered in Troy, Mich., USA, is a world
leader in automotive components and systems technology. Delphi's three
business sectors -- Dynamics & Propulsion; Safety, Thermal & Electrical
Architecture; and Electronics & Mobile Communication -- provide comprehensive
product solutions to complex customer needs. As of December 31, 1999, Delphi
had approximately 203,000 employees and operated 168 wholly owned
manufacturing sites, 39 joint ventures, 51 customer centers and sales offices
and 27 technical centers in 37 countries. With the addition of Lucas Diesel
Systems in January 2000, Delphi's worldwide presence grew to approximately
213,500 employees, 180 wholly owned manufacturing sites, 41 joint ventures,
51 customer centers and sales offices and 27 technical centers in
37 countries. Regional headquarters are located in Paris, Tokyo and So Paulo,
Brazil. Delphi can be found on the Internet at http://www.delphiauto.com
