Code-Alarm Partners with New Canadian DistributorMADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Feb. 21 -- Code-Alarm, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CODL) announced today it has chosen a new Canadian distributor for its vehicle electronics products. The Madison Heights, Mich. manufacturer has tapped Toronto-based Gem Sen to be the single source, coast-to-coast distributor in Canada for Code-Alarm's vehicle security, remote keyless-entry and remote car starter systems. Code- Alarm, which awarded the contract at the recent Consumer Electronics Show, will begin shipping products to Gem Sen this month. "We are pleased to add an international partner of the caliber of Gem Sen," said Peter J. Stouffer, President and Chief Operating Officer of Code- Alarm. "Their addition into the Code-Alarm family will allow us to expand our presence in Canada." Gem Sen will carry a full line of Code-Alarm and Chapman(TM) brand products that it will distribute for resale throughout Canada. Mike O'Connor, National Sales Manager for Gem Sen, said his company was pleased to be able to represent Code-Alarm in Canada. "We have pursued this business for more than a year and feel that Code- Alarm's systems will be a natural complement to the line of audio products we already carry," O'Connor said. "Code-Alarm has a solid name and great products. We think there's a big demand for the kinds of technology the Company supplies, particularly in the arena of remote car starters." Code-Alarm offers a comprehensive line of remote starters under the SureStart(TM) name. Introduced in late 1998, the SureStart Series includes four remote car starters and a combined remote-start/security system -- called the SureStart(TM)LX -- representing a "good-better-best-ultimate" approach to marketing. Michael Schroeder, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Code-Alarm, said the addition of Gem Sen should revitalize the Company's presence in Canada. "I am impressed with Gem Sen's facility, sales force and its distribution set up," Schroeder said. "Gem Sen is a marketing-driven company that enjoys a wonderful relationship with its dealers, and we look forward to a long relationship with our newest partner." Founded in Detroit in 1979 by CEO and Chairman Rand Mueller, Code-Alarm manufactures car security and remote keyless-entry products for the world's top automakers, including General Motors, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The Company also sells its products in 2,000 locations in 35 countries around the globe under the Code-Alarm(TM) and Chapman(TM) brand names.
