High-Tech Product Breakthroughs with Strong Consumer Appeal Drive Delphi at SAE 2000
TROY, Mich., Feb. 21 -- Delphi Automotive Systems
will use SAE 2000 to showcase its high-tech product portfolio -- and how
consumer demand for these products will help drive the company's long-term
growth.
Delphi will exhibit its portfolio at the Society of Automotive Engineers
(SAE) 2000 World Congress, March 6-9, 2000, at Cobo Center (Booth #1829) in
Detroit, Mich., USA. Technology advances in safety, mobile multimedia and
drive-by-wire systems will be among the highlights.
"Technology is what defines Delphi, especially in terms of electronics and
systems integration," said J.T. Battenberg III, Delphi chairman, chief
executive officer and president. "Technology is what enabled us to book $33
billion in new business last year. Technology is what led customers who,
prior to our separation with General Motors, had been perhaps tentative about
doing business with Delphi to seek us out. Technology is our future, and we
are investing heavily in it."
A preview of Delphi news and technologies at SAE 2000 follows:

DELPHI SAE EXHIBIT - FOCUS ON CONSUMER BENEFITS
Delphi's SAE 2000 exhibit will be designed around four theme areas:
safety; consumer, convenience & connectivity; environment; and vehicle
integration. The exhibit will emphasize how Delphi's electronics and
integration expertise is creating technologies that are both exciting to
consumers and helpful to automakers in product differentiation.

    TECHNOLOGY NEWS
Official Concept Introduction -- Advanced safety system. Delphi's leading
technology news will be related to safety. Delphi will debut a new systems
approach that will integrate more than 50 specific technologies. The system
is designed to help reduce probability of an accident and to help reduce the
effects of an accident if one does occur.
Official Product Introduction -- QUADRASTEER(TM) by Delphi. QUADRASTEER
by Delphi is an electronic four-wheel-steering system that enables full size
vehicles greater ease of maneuverability while driving at low speeds, enhanced
stability while trailering, and improved stability, handling and control at
higher speeds, especially while trailering.
North American Product Debut -- MagneRide(TM). Delphi's MagneRide
technology makes its North American debut after being introduced at the
Frankfurt Motor Show last fall. The industry's most advanced variable damping
system, MagneRide is a high-performance, high-value, semi-active suspension
control system that optimizes vehicle ride and handling by providing
Continuously Variable Real-Time Damping (CV-RTD) control based on road and
driver inputs.
Portfolio Update -- Communiport(R) Mobile MultiMedia. Delphi will
highlight its popular Communiport Mobile MultiMedia portfolio, which includes
navigation, text-to-speech, voice recognition, Bluetooth universal
connectivity, MP3 music playback, and more. Delphi recently announced $2.5
billion in new booked business for its Communiport technologies.

    TECHNICAL PAPERS
Delphi engineers are publishing 68 technical papers at SAE 2000,
presenting their work on a variety of important automotive industry subjects,
including occupant safety, vehicle performance, electronics integration and
the environment. Additionally, Delphi will be represented in panel
discussions on subjects including ergonomics, integrated cockpits, 42-volt
systems and globalization.

SAE FAMILY NIGHT - DELPHI SPONSORSHIP OF EVENT
Delphi repeats its sponsorship role this year for SAE Family Night, to be
held Tuesday, March 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Cobo Center (conference rooms 02-33
and 02-44). Carrying the theme "Driving Tomorrow's Technology," SAE Family
Night combines several displays with hands-on activities to provide an
educational and fun forum to introduce students to engineering.
