Delphi Automotive Systems Launches Virtual Press Room
TROY, Mich., Feb. 17 -- Delphi Automotive Systems
today launched its Virtual Press Room to help streamline communications with
members of the press. Steven K. Gaut, director of media relations for Delphi,
made the announcement. Delphi's Virtual Press Room, which does not require a
password, is located at http://www.delphiauto.com/vpr .
"Delphi developed this site with journalists' deadlines and information
needs in mind," Gaut said. "We want members of the press to be able to get
general information, learn about upcoming events, download press kits and
images and request interviews online. And, as Web technologies improve, we
will bring more interaction to the site.
"This tool is in line with our e-business strategy of enhancing external
communications through the application of Web-based technologies," he said.
"We hope members of the press find it useful and time-saving and we invite
them to provide feedback on how we can make it better for them."
The site, which is integral to Delphi's corporate site, is being launched
in conjunction with Delphi's Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) 2000 World
Congress activities and will highlight Delphi's feature technologies. In
addition to standard information such as press releases, executive biographies
and contact information, features of the Delphi Virtual Press Room include:
    * Event Calendar -- Journalists can get an overview, details like the
date, time and place of an event, and a contact to call to get more
information or confirm attendance.
    * Interview Requests Online -- Contacts for each executive and featured
technologies are listed; journalists simply call or e-mail the contact to
request an interview. Also, users can click on the Delphi executive's name to
connect to biographical information and click on the featured technology for
product information.
    * Press Kits Online -- Delphi will archive all press kits, including
photographs, online. Users can download the kits or request a printed copy be
sent to them.
    * Speeches -- Delphi will post executive speeches in this archive, and in
the future, will include audio downloads of key presentations.
    * Financial Communications Database -- This page, which will be launched
in conjunction with Delphi's first quarterly earnings announcement in April,
will be the site for obtaining Delphi's quarterly disclosure plans and
financial performance materials. Here journalists will find information for
connecting to the quarterly earnings conference call, a quarterly presentation
of financial results and current and past earnings press releases.
Gaut said the site would be continuously evaluated and updated to
incorporate current information and enhanced technologies for improving the
performance of the site.
