Nissan Names New Corporate Communications V.P.
          - Debra Sanchez Fair to Fill Top Communications Position -

CARSON, Calif., Feb. 16 -- Nissan North America, Inc., (NNA)
announced today that effective immediately, Debra Sanchez Fair, 39, will be
promoted to the position of Vice President, Corporate Communications. Sanchez
Fair will be replacing Jason Vines who recently left the company to pursue
other business interests. Sanchez Fair will report directly to Nobuo Araki,
president, NNA. Sanchez Fair, a 17 year industry veteran, will oversee all
corporate communications activities for Nissan's North American operations,
including a staff of 22, with regional offices in Washington D.C. and Detroit.
Nissan's government affairs function, previously reporting to Vines, will
report to Ann Jennings. Jennings is appointed vice president and general
counsel, legal and government affairs. Rob Strassburger, director of
government affairs, will now report to Jennings along with her existing legal
staff reports. Jennings' legal experience and counsel on government and
industry issues is a strategic fit and provides consistent linkage to NNA's
overall industry communications efforts with key Washington D.C. influentials.
"The appointment of Debra Sanchez Fair will enhance and strengthen our
already capable and enthusiastic corporate communications team. Debra's solid
public relations background, including nearly 10 years at Nissan, will provide
a seamless transition for the corporate communications department," said Nobuo
Araki.
Since joining Nissan in 1990 as corporate manager of Infiniti public
relations, Sanchez Fair has held several product and public affairs positions
in the corporate communications department. Most recently, as director of
corporate communications, Sanchez Fair was responsible for overseeing
corporate public relations which included corporate public affairs, corporate
news, community relations and internal communications. Additionally, she
served as one of the key public relations advisors for NNA and its affiliates,
including Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. (NML) in Japan, Nissan Motor
Manufacturing Corporation U.S.A. (NMMC), Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation
(NMAC).
Sanchez Fair is a graduate of the San Francisco Academy, a graduate-level
educational program designed for those who manage the corporate communications
function. Students at the academy are chosen by chief public relations
officers of participating Fortune 500 companies.
Born in Okinawa, Japan, Sanchez Fair graduated from the University of
Southern California in 1982 where she earned a bachelor's degree in
journalism, with an emphasis on sports information/public relations.
She currently lives in Southern Orange County, Calif., with her husband
