Subaru Announces Pricing on 2001 Model Year Forester
CHERRY HILL, N.J., Feb. 16 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA)
announced today the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the 2001
model year Forester model line. For 2001, the Forester continues to set the
standard in the small SUV segment for performance, handling, active safety and
standard equipment. All Forester models benefit from redesigned front and
rear fascias, providing a more sophisticated appearance. Its unique
combination of AWD handling, car-like ride and SUV versatility sets it apart
from the competition. For 2001, Forester is available in the following trim
levels: L, S and a new S Model with the Premium Package offering a high level
of luxury and utility.
Forester was recently distinguished as part of AAA's 1999 Top Car Awards
for "Top SUV Priced Less Than $25,000" and was selected as a "Best Buy" by
Consumers Digest Magazine. Additionally, Strategic Vision presented Forester
with its "Total Quality" award for 1999.

    Forester L
A new, standard dual trip odometer and outside temperature gauge located
in the instrument cluster and a dual front cup holder add to the comfort and
convenience for the new model year. Forester L receives an in-glass antenna,
intermittent rear window wiper/washer, upgraded interior, 3-point seat belts
in all seating positions, rear center headrest and height adjustable outboard
shoulder belt anchors. Rounding out the list of features is a standard 60/40
split fold-down rear seatback for increased utility. Subaru adds all this
equipment for a minimal price increase of $200.

    Forester S
The 2001 Forester S provides drivers with all the freedom of off-road
adventure without sacrificing a high level of comfort and style. In addition
to all the new features available on the L model, the 2001 S model adds a
keyless entry system and an AM/FM cassette stereo with 6-disc in-dash CD
changer as standard equipment. Complementing the sophisticated new styling
are redesigned 16" alloy wheels, body color side mirrors and Titanium Pearl
lower body side cladding. A leather wrapped shift knob, steering wheel and
parking brake handle add a defining touch of luxury. An MSRP increase of only
$300 on the 2001 Forester S further strengthens the Subaru tradition of value
and price position in this competitive segment.

S Model with the Premium Package
Subaru offers the S Model with the Premium package in the 2001 model year
for the buyer looking for the ultimate in luxury and utility. The Forester S
with the Premium package adds distinctive gold accent alloy wheels and a
monotone exterior paint scheme for a luxurious look. Subaru also adds a power
sliding glass moonroof with retractable sunshade for fresh air motoring both
on- and off-road. For enhanced protection and a greater level of safety, the
Forester S with the Premium package also includes front seat side-impact air
bags (SRS). This comprehensive equipment package will have an MSRP of $1,000.
A 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission is available on
all models for $800. All Forester models come standard with 24-hour roadside
assistance and Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) certification for all 50 states.
Destination and delivery charges remain at $495 for all vehicles (except
in Alaska, $685).
