CON-WAY Promotes David L. Miller to Vice President, Strategic Planning
ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Feb. 16, 2000--David L. Miller, a 28-year veteran of the trucking industry, has been promoted from director to vice president, strategic planning for Con-Way Transportation Services (CON-WAY).Miller, 45, assumes greater responsibility for CON-WAY's future strategic business direction including new business development and e-commerce initiatives. He will also continue the development and refinement of CON-WAY's internal processes.

Miller is leading the company's Business Integrated Transactions Effort, or BITE, project which is mapping and refining the accounts receivable process throughout the entire CON-WAY organization. "Under Dave's leadership the BITE initiative will not only streamline the accounts receivable process but will also save the corporation significant dollars that will go immediately to the bottom line," said Douglas W. Stotlar, executive vice president, operations. "For a business to remain progressive and profitable, its team needs to think outside the box, create new hypotheses to test, and continually review how it operates. Dave is always looking for opportunities where we can be better at our game, and he finds them," added Stotlar.
Miller began his 17-year career with CON-WAY as a freight operations supervisor for Con-Way Central Express (CCX) in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1985 he was promoted to service center manager and opened the first CCX service center in Dayton, Ohio. He returned to Cincinnati as service center manager in 1987. In 1989 he was promoted to southwest region manager. In 1996 he was appointed director, quality assurance for CCX and held that position until 1998 when he was promoted to director, strategic planning for CON-WAY. Prior to beginning his career with CON-WAY, Miller attended the University of Cincinnati. In his new position Miller will report to Doug Stotlar.
