Hayes Lemmerz Special Committee Appoints Advisors
    NORTHVILLE, Mich., Feb. 16 -- Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , one of the world's leading suppliers of wheels, brakes,
powertrain, suspension, structural and other lightweight components to the
automotive and commercial highway markets, announced today that the Special
Committee of the Board of Directors, formed in response to the $21 per share
merger proposal made in January 2000 by a group led by Joseph Littlejohn &
Levy, has appointed Wasserstein Perella & Co. as its financial advisor and
Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz as its counsel.
