InvoiceDealers.com Releases 1999 New Car Comparison Shopping Popularity IndexPALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 15 -- InvoiceDealers.com, the leading developer of new-car comparison shopping technology, released the most popular vehicles of 1999 according to its Comparison Shopping Popularity Index. In each vehicle category, ratings were based on a weighted formula reflecting the popularity of specific models across the InvoiceDealers.com shopping system. The Chevrolet Silverado was the most popular truck in the InvoiceDealers.com marketplace, edging out the Ford F-Series. Imports dominated the car category, with the Volkswagen Jetta and Passat handily leading the pack. The Jeep Grand Cherokee headed up the SUV category, although the Nissan Xterra's second-place finish is particularly impressive due to its late release date. The Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey ruled the minivans, dashing the domestic competition. The results of the Popularity Index are unique, reflecting the interactive nature of the InvoiceDealers.com marketplace. "We're price-driven, and we get aggressive buyers, smart shoppers," said Jon Christensen, CEO of InvoiceDealers.com. "These are the models that attracted their curiosity and their wallets in 1999. As our comparison shopping engine gains further distribution and exposure, it will be interesting to see which ones end up on top in 2000."
