Goodyear Again Tops in Its Industry on Fortune's Most Admired List
AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 14 -- The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company,
for the third year in a row, has earned top honors in the Rubber and Plastics
Products category of Fortune magazine's list of "America's Most Admired
Companies."
The magazine published the results of its 18th annual corporate reputation
survey in its Feb. 21 issue, which is available on newsstands today and at
http://www.fortune.com .
Within its industry, Goodyear took top honors in six of the eight measured
attributes of reputation. Goodyear was ranked No. 1 in product quality,
innovativeness, employee talent, social responsibility, financial soundness
and long-term investment value.
"This recognition is significant as it reflects the views of leaders in
our industry -- including those of our competitors," said Samir G. Gibara,
Goodyear's chairman, chief executive officer and president. "It is
confirmation that not only is Goodyear the world's biggest tire company, but
well on its way to being the best."
To create each of its 57 industry-specific most admired lists, Fortune
asked executives, directors and analysts to rank companies in their own
industry.
Goodyear is the world's largest tire company. Headquartered in Akron,
Ohio, the company manufactures tires, engineered rubber products and chemicals
in more than 90 facilities in 30 countries. It has marketing operations in
almost every country around the world. Goodyear, with the addition of its
Dunlop tire joint ventures, employs more than 100,000 people worldwide.
