Don Himelfarb of Thrifty Car Rental Elected President of ACRA, Other Officers NamedWASHINGTON, Feb. 14 -- Don Himelfarb, President and CEO of Thrifty, Inc., the parent company of Thrifty Car Rental, has been named President of the American Car Rental Association (ACRA). Himelfarb, who has served on ACRA's board of directors for eight years, will serve a one-year term as president of the car rental industry's leading national trade association. In addition to his involvement with ACRA, he has also held numerous positions with statewide car and truck rental trade associations. He succeeds outgoing ACRA President Gary L. Paxton, president and CEO of Dollar Rent A Car, who will remain on the organization's board of directors. Today, as President of Thrifty, Inc., Himelfarb oversees Thrifty Rent-A- Car System, Inc., as well as Thrifty Car Sales, a parallel franchise system of used car dealers that is expected to reach 60 U.S. locations by January 2001. He is also an Executive Vice President of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. and a member of its board. Also elected to officer positions with ACRA: -- Vice President: Don Ross, Chief Operating Officer of Enterprise Rent-A- Car; and -- Secretary/Treasurer: Michael Going, President, Alamo Rent A Car. Also serving on ACRA's board of directors are: Ernest Johnson, President, National Car Rental; and Mark Sotir, President, North American Vehicle Rental Operations, Budget Rent a Car Corporation. ACRA is a non-profit trade association representing leading members of the car rental industry. The association has been in existence for over 20 years, and is the primary car rental industry group acting on a national level. ACRA is the recognized source of industry information, representing member companies that include Alamo, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, National and Thrifty.
