The Chinook RV with the Quigley Motor Company four-wheel drive system is the first 4WD motorhome ever to enter the grueling Alcan 5000 rally.SEATTLE -- Quigley Motor Company, the Manchester, Penn.-based manufacturer of four-wheel-drive and right-hand drive full-sized vans and select motorhomes, has joined with Trail Wagons to become the first vehicle manufacturers ever to enter a four-wheel drive motorhome in the upcoming Alcan 5000 rally. The Alcan 5000, which starts today in the suburbs of Seattle, is the automotive racers equivalent of the Boston Marathon for runners. It is a grueling 10-day schedule, traveling from Kirkland, WA to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, placing racing teams against each other and their vehicles against the worst Mother Nature can dish out until its finish on February 20. The Chinook RV, incorporating the Quigley Motor Company 4WD system with the deluxe Chinook motorhome conversion, is based on the 2000 Ford E350 cutaway chassis. This entry also represents the first time for the Alcan 5000 that two presidents of vehicle manufacturers -- Mike Quigley of Quigley Motor Company and Dan Lukehart of Trail Wagons -- will be driving one of the vehicles entered. Mike Quigley, President of Quigley Motor Company for the last seven years, and second generation to run the family business says, "I am a little nervous about competing, but confident of a successful completion of all legs of the Alcan 5000 with our partners at Chinook and our 4WD system," said Quigley, who is also the company's chief engineer. The Quigley Motor Company is the oldest, largest and most successful manufacturer of high quality four-wheel-drive systems for new Ford and GM full sized vans and "cut-a-ways" in the world. It has sold nearly 8,500 of its unique four-wheel drive systems for vans. Founded as a van conversion company by William "Bill" Quigley in 1966, the company also manufactures and installs right-hand drive systems for vans, pickup trucks and sports utility vehicles.
