Hyundai Scores Exclusive Automotive Sponsorship For Gold Cup 2000 Soccer Tournament
    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 11 -- Hyundai Motor America
(HMA) will be the exclusive automotive sponsor at this year's Gold Cup 2000
soccer tournament, February 12-27, 2000.  As the official vehicle sponsor for
the tournament, Hyundai will showcase their full 2000 product line including
the Accent, Elantra, Tiburon and Sonata and provide cars for the officials
during the tournament.
    Hyundai will also sponsor a lottery-scratch-ticket style giveaway for
tournament guests to win Gold Cup memorabilia or one of two 2000 Sonatas.
    "Our participation in Gold Cup 2000 is one of several valuable
sponsorships Hyundai is involved in," said Robert Dutcheshen, HMA
merchandising and promotions manager.  "We're committed to continuing
Hyundai's support of national events and increasing the visibility of our new
high quality products."
    Gold Cup 2000 is the premier men's soccer tournament of North America,
Central America and the Caribbean.  Nineteen matches are slated to be played
between 12 different teams at three different venues, simultaneously, in the
United States: Miami, Los Angeles and San Diego.  Teams participating in Gold
Cup 2000 include: United States, Mexico, Jamaica, Columbia, Honduras, Peru,
Haiti, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, South Korea and Canada.  The
first match will be played on Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Orange Bowl in Miami
between USA and Haiti.  The semi-finals and final matches will take place
February 23-27 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
