Schonau Appointed Inspira Technology Manager for Johnson Controls
    MILWAUKEE, Feb. 10 -- Hermann Schonau has been named manager
of Inspira(R) battery technology for Johnson Controls, Inc. .
Inspira is an enabling technology for 42-volt architectures.  Inspira
technology provides a smaller, lightweight battery with significantly more
power than conventional lead acid batteries.  Schonau will be based at an
office in the Stuttgart area of Germany.
    Schonau will work directly with European automotive OEMs and electronic
system integrators to introduce Inspira technology in 12-volt, 42-volt, and
higher voltage Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and fuel cell applications.
    Schonau has over 28 years experience in the automotive and electric energy
industry, holding engineering, program manager and sales positions.  Prior to
joining Johnson Controls, he was Head of Systems Integration at Grundl and
Hoffman GmbH, a subsidiary of Continental-ISAD.
    Schonau holds an M.S. in electrical engineering and energy economics from
the Technical University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
