CheapGas.net to Offer Retail Gasoline Prices Online
SEATTLE--Feb. 8, 2000--New Online company CheapGas.net (www.cheapgas.net), announced today that it will be the first Internet destination to offer a comprehensive list of U.S. retail gasoline prices.Scheduled for launch in spring of 2000, CheapGas.net will provide prices for all grades of gasoline and diesel from a database of over 95,000 stations nationwide. "Fuel costs are a substantial part of any business or family budget," said Michael Sanchez, CheapGas Executive Vice President. "The service will essentially be a price comparison resource, empowering our customers to quickly locate the lowest- priced and most convenient gas stations anywhere in the country."
CheapGas.net will search for fuel prices based on a customer-provided address and zip code, with data guaranteed current within 24 hours. The top 20 best-priced locations, including station name and street address, will be displayed free of charge, with price rankings based on the lowest octane gasoline sold at each location. In addition, the site will offer mapping software and driving directions to help customers locate the listed stations.
For customers requiring fuel price searches that expand beyond their local communities, CheapGas.net will offer a variety of advanced search options. For example, custom point-to-point searches will enable cross-country travelers to search for the best-priced stations along interstate highways. Travelers will provide a beginning and ending address, vehicle gas mileage and fuel tank size, and CheapGas.net will display the lowest-priced gasoline stations along the route. All advanced searches will be offered for a fee, based on the complexity of the requested service.
CheapGas.net will also offer nationwide gas price reports focused toward corporations and government agencies with extensive vehicle fleets. National reports will utilize the full depth of the CheapGas.net database to sort and deliver specific price data requested by the client. "Technology provides us with almost unlimited sorting options," said Sanchez, "enabling CheapGas.net to tailor reports to meet the specific needs of even the largest vehicle fleets." Fees for custom reports will be negotiated with each individual client.
Seattle-based CheapGas.net was founded in February of 1999 with a goal of providing Online access to a complete list of U.S. retail gasoline prices. With a current gas price database of more than 95,000 U.S. stations and growing, the company will be the first to offer public access to such an extensive list of fuel prices.
