Hayes Lemmerz Names Key Appointments to Its European Wheels Group

    NORTHVILLE, Mich., Feb. 7 -- Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , one of the world's leading suppliers of wheels, brakes,
powertrain, suspension, structural and other lightweight components to the
automotive and commercial highway markets, today announced three appointments
to its newly formed European Wheels Group, which include the European
Fabricated Wheels and the European Cast Aluminum Wheels business units.
The announcement was made by Giancarlo Dallera, who recently became president
of the European Wheels Group, as part of Hayes Lemmerz' recent strategic
realignment.
    Under the new structure, the following appointments will report directly
to Mr. Dallera:

    Hans Buchel has been appointed as president of the European Fabricated
Wheels business unit.  Mr. Buchel previously served as general manager of the
Company's Konigswinter, Germany steel wheels facility and is a 20 year veteran
of Hayes Lemmerz.

    Ermanno Pedrini has been appointed as president of the European Cast
Aluminum Wheels business unit.  Mr. Pedrini joined Hayes Lemmerz in 1984.

    Marc Hendrickx has been appointed as vice president of sales and marketing
of the newly formed European Wheels Group.  Mr. Hendrickx, who has been with
the Company since 1980 will coordinate the Group's sales and marketing
activities.

    Commenting on the appointments, Mr. Dallera stated, "The appointments of
Buchel, Pedrini and Hendrickx are an important aspect to the strengthening of
Hayes Lemmerz' global operations.  They have strong automotive backgrounds.
In tandem with the recent announcement of the Company's strategic realignment,
I am confident that these appointments will further strengthen our position
and enhance our global expansion efforts."
