Best-Ever January Sales Reported by Toyota's Chicago Region
    CHICAGO, Feb. 4 -- Toyota's Chicago Region posted record car
sales in January of 4,818 vehicles, a 20 percent increase over January 1999
when sales totaled 4,022.  Another best-ever record, were combined car and
truck sales, which totaled 5,375, a 25 percent increase over 4,310 vehicles
sold in January 1999.
    "The sales momentum for the Chicago Region has carried over to the new
millennium, mirroring the entire Toyota Division by posting a record January
sales month," said Dave Camden, general manager of the Chicago Region.
    "The North-American built Avalon and Sienna posted an impressive 103
percent increase, and 31 percent, respectively.  Toyota's SUV, the Land
Cruiser, contributed to a best-ever January, with a sales gain of 38 percent.
Toyota trucks, Tacoma and Tundra, were up 93 percent over last year.
    "Chicago Region dealers closed out the 1999 model year as one of their
best-ever, and look forward to continuing the momentum," Camden said.
    The Toyota Chicago Region includes 114 dealers in Illinois, Indiana,
Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
