Intermet Unites Manufacturing Group Identities
TROY, Mich., Feb. 4 -- Intermet Corporation
announced today that its entire cast-metal product line will be manufactured
and marketed under the Intermet name. All facilities previously identified as
Diemakers, Ganton Technologies, or Tool Products will be identified as
Intermet.
"The name changes were made to better reflect our role as a single-source
supplier for all cast-metal automotive components," said David L. Neilson,
Intermet vice president of sales and marketing. "With the recent acquisitions
of Diemakers, Ganton Technologies, and Tool Products, we are uniquely
positioned as a company with full-service supplier capabilities across a broad
spectrum of materials. Our customers know us as the premier manufacturer of
ductile-iron components. Now we're able to provide solutions to our
customers' challenges in ductile iron, aluminum, magnesium and zinc.
"Diemakers, Ganton and Tool Products were recognized leaders in the
industry," Neilson said. "We plan to leverage that leadership to grow our
light-metals capabilities under the Intermet banner."
Intermet's North American manufacturing operations include eight ductile-
iron foundries, nine light-metal casting plants and three machining centers.
In Europe, Intermet operates two ductile-iron foundries in Germany and has a
joint venture with a foundry company in Portugal.
With headquarters in Troy, Michigan, Intermet Corporation is a full-
service supplier of powertrain, chassis/suspension and structural components
to the worldwide automotive industry. Intermet also manufactures cranes and
specialty service vehicles. The company has more than 9,000 employees at
facilities located in North America and Europe. More information about the
company is available on the Internet at http://www.intermet.com .
