Dura Automotive Systems Provides Overview of Realignment; Focus is Unified Product Lines WorldwideROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Feb. 3 -- Dura Automotive Systems, Inc. , a leading global supplier of driver control systems, body and glass modules, engineered assemblies and seating systems for the worldwide automobile industry, has realigned the company around four main divisions to better serve present and future customers. The move will help facilitate the company's objective to emphasize a unified product line focus on a worldwide basis. "Because of our size, product line variety, and the global markets in which we operate," said Dura Chief Executive Officer Karl Storrie, "we need a corporate structure that effectively leverages both our capabilities and worldwide sales opportunities by product line. This change will help us manage the increasingly complex relationships with our customers while providing them with best-in-class products in the most effective manner possible." Dura's new divisional structure is as follows: -- The Engineered Products Division contains the Seat Systems, Thixotech, Plastic Products (including Engine Controls), and Mechanical Assemblies business units. Joseph Bubenzer, previously in charge of Dura's European operations, is the Division President. -- Dura Chief Operating Officer Don DeFosset will oversee the Driver Controls Division until a permanent leader is named. This division contains the Shift Systems, Cables, and Brake Systems business units. -- Jurgen von Heyden, formerly in charge of Dura's Body, Trim and Glass units in Europe, heads the Body and Glass Division. Its business units include Body and Glass Europe and Body and Glass North America. -- Robert Pickering will continue to lead Dura's Atwood Mobile Products Division, which is a leading supplier of a variety of products to the recreational vehicle, mass transit, and heavy truck markets. Under the new structure, each division will have a vice president of sales and a director of finance. The former will be responsible for working with the business units to establish strategic sales and marketing direction for the division, and to assure that strategies and resources are coordinated within divisions and company-wide. The divisional sales vice presidents will have a direct link to the vice president of sales and marketing in the company's Rochester Hills headquarters. Each director of finance will assist the division president in performing business analysis, as well as providing guidance and direction to the business units in their division. They also will report directly to the corporate vice president of finance and the company's chief financial officer. "Recognizing the fact that Dura has more than tripled in sales in the past 12 months, each of the divisions and associated nine business units will have full P&L responsibility for their various product and market segments," said DeFosset. "This change is essential to insure we remain customer and product focused during this period of high growth for our company." To strengthen its technical capability for customers, Dura also has created a new position, vice president and chief technical officer. This person will work with the technical leaders in the divisions and business units, be responsible for developing best-in-class engineering systems and practices worldwide, as well as insuring strong technical emphasis on new product developments and research. Dura Automotive Systems is the world's largest independent designer and manufacturer of driver control systems, a leading global supplier of door systems, window systems and engineered mechanical components for the global automotive industry.
