General Motors Adds Key Executives to GM TradeXchangeDETROIT, Feb. 3 -- General Motors Corporation , today announced two new appointments to the recently formed GM TradeXchange organization. Enrico (Rico) Digiorolamo, Jr., is appointed Chief Financial Officer and director of Business Development. As CFO, Rico will be accountable for the current and long-term effectiveness of all financial functions of the organization including business financial analysis, contract cost accounting, contract price support, investment analysis, cash flow management and budgetary controls, among others. As director of Business Development, he will be responsible for generating new and innovative ways to expand the market penetration and reach of GM TradeXchange. Rico comes to GM TradeXchange from his former position as executive director of the Motors Holding division of General Motors. Motors Holding is a wholly-owned subsidiary responsible for enhancing dealer marketing and distribution to develop GM's retail talent. Doug Maulbetsch is appointed Chief Information Officer. Among Doug's responsibilities will be assuring an optimal network architecture, efficient and secure data management, high functionality of the systems and response times that meet industry standards. He will establish and oversee contracts with website and hardware vendors, system application developers and system integrators. Doug was formerly the general director of information systems and services, Worldwide Purchasing. These new appointments strengthen the senior management structure of GM TradeXchange, which was created in November, 1999 under the leadership of Alan Turfe executive director, GM TradeXchange. As executive director, Alan has been leading the development of the GM TradeXchange, developing its strategy and direction, setting and achieving clear business goals, directing revenue generation and growth, and managing the day-to-day operations of this new virtual trading exchange marketplace. Working closely with Alan Turfe has been Ray Pollard, who is director of Global Strategic Alliances. He has been responsible for developing relationships and managing business development with strategic suppliers, contributing to marketing message development and managing and supporting the relationship with Commerce One. Prior to this appointment, Ray was responsible for the development, approval and deployment of the global supplier electronic commerce strategy for GM. He launched the GM SupplyPower program, which focuses on business-to- business communications between GM and its suppliers. Previously, he was director of Purchasing for Machinery & Equipment and Indirect Materials for GM North America. GM TradeXchange is a virtual Internet community for GM, its suppliers and other businesses, allowing them to perform business transactions with speed and efficiency. GM TradeXchange is powered by Commerce One the Walnut Creek, California-based provider of business-to-business electronic commerce solutions. Recently, GM TradeXchange and i2 Technologies of Dallas, Texas announced their intentions to incorporate i2 Technologies, Inc. business- to-business supply chain services into GM TradeXchange's open on-line e- marketplace. i2 Technologies provides intelligent eBusiness solutions that help enterprises enhance business processes both internally and among trading partners.
