Recoton Corporation Announces OEM Manufacturing Agreement With Rosen Products LLC
LAKE MARY, Fla.--Feb. 3, 2000--Recoton Corporation (Nasdaq National Market:RCOT), a leading global consumer electronic accessory, loudspeaker and car audio company, today announced that it had signed an Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) agreement with Rosen Products LLC of Eugene, Oregon. Rosen Products supplies in-vehicle entertainment systems to the OEM and aftermarket channels and they have been the market leader in this arena since they launched the first OEM validated system on board the Oldsmobile Silhouette in '98.This agreement provides for the creation and manufacturing by Recoton Corporation of various customized components such as 900 MHz wireless transmitters and headphones that utilize Recoton Corporation's proprietary technologies. These products will be part of in-vehicle entertainment systems designed and supplied by Rosen for SUVs and mini-vans manufactured by General Motors, Ford and Daimler Chrysler. They are also developing systems for foreign made automobiles.
The Rosen produced automotive entertainment systems are specifically designed for precise factory fit and to exactly match factory finish specifications. These top-quality systems generally consist of a Flat Panel Display (FPD) TV screen, a videocassette recorder, an overhead console, a video game interface, an FM modulator to access factory installed audio and a complete wiring harness for manufacturing point or local dealer installation.
Recoton's OEM development team worked with Rosen Products for over a year to develop the customized wireless headphone and transmitter system. Initial deliveries of the Recoton 900 MHz wireless transmitters and headphones have begun.
