BMW Records Best January Ever; BMW Sales Up 23 PercentWOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Feb. 2 -- BMW of North America, Inc. reported its best January on record with sales of 12,480 vehicles, compared to 10,135 sold a year ago, an increase of 23 percent. Automobile sales increased 15 percent, to 11,644 compared to 10,135 last year. The company also reported sales of 836 BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicles in January, the first full month that the all-new BMW was sold. Sales of BMW's 3 Series models, up 23 percent over a year ago, were particularly strong in January, as were sales of the 7 Series models, which were up 17 percent. Sales of Certified Pre-owned BMW's reflected an impressive January. BMW reported sales of 2,971 automobiles, an increase of 172 percent over a year ago, when 1,091 pre-owned models were sold.
