Hyundai Starts the Year With Record Sales; January Sales Up 96% Over Last YearFOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 1 -- Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 14,834 vehicles for the month of January, up 96 percent from one year ago. "Last year was our best in the past 10 years and our strong January sales indicate that Hyundai's sales momentum is continuing for Y2K," said Robert Cosmai, vice-president of sales for Hyundai Motor America. "With sales of 7,064 units, the Elantra should again be the volume leader. Sales were up 80 percent over the same month last year," Cosmai added. "Our flagship Sonata also continues to show large sales increases, with a sales increase of 136 percent over last year," he said. "One factor bringing customers into Hyundai showrooms is The Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty," Cosmai said. "Hyundai buyers are covered by a 10-year/100,000 powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty and 5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection," he added.
