Hyundai Starts the Year With Record Sales; January Sales Up 96% Over Last Year
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 1 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 14,834 vehicles for the month of January, up
96 percent from one year ago. "Last year was our best in the past 10 years
and our strong January sales indicate that Hyundai's sales momentum is
continuing for Y2K," said Robert Cosmai, vice-president of sales for Hyundai
Motor America.
"With sales of 7,064 units, the Elantra should again be the volume leader.
Sales were up 80 percent over the same month last year," Cosmai added. "Our
flagship Sonata also continues to show large sales increases, with a sales
increase of 136 percent over last year," he said.
"One factor bringing customers into Hyundai showrooms is The Hyundai
Advantage, America's Best Warranty," Cosmai said. "Hyundai buyers are covered
by a 10-year/100,000 powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000 mile
bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty and
5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection," he added.
