AAA-Chicago Motor Club Merges with AAA Michigan and AAA Wisconsin

1 February 2000

AAA-Chicago Motor Club Merges with AAA Michigan and AAA Wisconsin
DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 1 -- AAA-Chicago Motor Club has become
affiliated with AAA Michigan/Wisconsin, Inc., the holding company for AAA
Michigan and AAA Wisconsin. The merger will mean a name change for the
holding company, from AAA Michigan/Wisconsin, Inc. to "The Auto Club Group."
Under the terms of the agreement, the insurance subsidiary of AAA-Chicago
Motor Club (Chicago Motor Club Insurance Company) was sold to Auto Club
Insurance Association (ACIA), headquartered in Dearborn and affiliated with
the holding company.
The Auto Club Group will be an organization with more than 3 million
members, including 750,000 in AAA-Chicago Motor Club, headquartered in Des
Plaines, Illinois; 564,000 in AAA Wisconsin, headquartered in Madison,
Wisconsin; and 1,725,000 in AAA Michigan, headquartered in Dearborn.
AAA-Chicago Motor Club's affiliation with The Auto Club Group is the most
recent in a series of actions by AAA clubs across the country to consolidate
and combine operations to improve service to members.
These alliances have led to the growth of larger, regional clubs and
reduced expenses by spreading many of the clubs' fixed costs over a larger
membership base. By combining the clubs' forces, the organization will be
better able to hold down dues increases and provide greater value to AAA
members in the Great Lakes region.
