Nissan Reports a 22.5 Percent Increase in Sales- Maxima and Truck Sales Continue to Lead Nissan's Sales Momentum - CARSON, Calif., Feb. 1 -- Paced by the growing popularity of its all-new Maxima sedan and its line of Frontier trucks, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) saw sales totals rise 22.5 percent in January, reaching a total of 45,445 units. Some of Nissan's sales highlights for the month of January include: -- Total Nissan truck sales rose 51.1 percent versus January 1999, totaling 21,338 units. -- Aided by the growing popularity of the Crew Cab, Frontier truck sales climbed to 7,474 units in January, a 38.6 percent increase versus 1999. -- Xterra posted sales of 6,078 units in January and the Pathfinder followed with 5,472 units sold. -- Nissan Quest sales totaled 2,314 units. -- Nissan's total car sales reached a total of 24,107 units in January, a 4.9 percent increase versus the previous year. -- The all-new Nissan Maxima posted sales of 9,800 units in January, marking a 42.4 percent increase over 1999. -- Altima reported sales of 11,446 units, a 5.0 percent jump versus 1999, while Sentra reported sales of 2,845 units. Combined sales for Nissan and Infiniti Divisions for January totaled 51,967 units, up 26.7 percent versus last year. Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles totaled 30,160 units in January, which accounted for 66.4 percent of Nissan's total sales volume. In North America, Nissan's operations include styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing.
