Subaru Announces January Sales Figures; Best January Total Sales Since 1986CHERRY HILL, N.J., Feb. 1 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today announced its January sales figures. Subaru recorded a sales total of 12,450 units for the month, up 27 percent over January 1999 sales. This marks the company's best January total sales month in 14 years. The Legacy model line led sales with 7,284 units posted, a 31 percent increase over the same period last year. Outback sales were up over 37 percent (5,093 units) versus 1999 January sales (3,711 units). Forester posted 3,784 units, an increase of 20 percent over the same month last year. Over the past six years, the company has nearly tripled its revenues and seen its sales increase by nearly 50 percent thanks to its popular line of car-based sport utility vehicles. The company is among the fastest growing brands in the automobile industry and was recently named "Most Improved Car Company in the World" by the London-based Financial Times Automotive World Magazine.
