Honda division extended its record sales to 34 consecutive months, with new records for overall sales at 65,997 units -- up 2.1% over this month last year, and light truck sales of 18,703, up 28.4% over January, 1999. Contributing to the increases in truck sales were record Odyssey sales of 8,223, a 185.8% increase over the same month last year. "Even Mother Nature couldn't slow our streak," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales, American Honda, commenting on storms in the Northeast that slowed sales in the region.
