New Assembly Process for Next Generation Microwave Warning System

Sense Technologies Announces New Assembly Process for Next Generation Microwave Warning System; Developed For Guardian Alert With S&S Distributing

OMAHA, Neb.--February 1, 2000--Sense Technologies, Inc., (OTCBB:SNSGF) and (Canadian Venture Exchange:SSE), a leading manufacturer of quality safety products for the transportation industry, and S&S Distributors, a licensee of Sense, announced today the introduction of a new assembly process developed for the manufacture of the Guardian Alert(tm) next generation backup warning device.
The process, uses housing from the original model and incorporates a special polymer, or "potting fluid," to seal the interior. The polymer, similar to an epoxy resin, is injected into the unit before hardening to secure and protect the delicate internal equipment without interfering with the sensitive microwave technology.
"We spent considerable time making a technically superior product, and now this new process ensures that the unit will be impervious to external forces and can continue to be relied on to operate in all weather conditions," said Bruce Schreiner, Director, Sense Technologies. "In addition, recently the company has had meaningful discussions with automotive OEMs."
Unlike other sensors on the market, products based on microwave technology such as the Guardian Alert, are not adversely affected by rain, snow, mud, light or other environmental factors. Moreover, the Guardian Alert is powered by a vehicle's reverse light circuitry, making it instantly activated once the vehicle is put into reverse - automatically shutting-off when in neutral or a forward gear.
Designed for mounting at the rear of a vehicle, the Guardian Alert projects and receives microwave signals within a predefined area behind a vehicle incorporating a unique range gated pattern of detection. The system detection zones are set at point of assembly covering up to twelve feet behind the vehicle. Currently manufactured are two standard detection zones, the twelve (12) foot, six (6) foot and three (3) foot pattern; and the nine (9) foot, five (5) foot and three (3) foot. Custom patterns in excess of forty (40) feet may be produced upon special order.
It is the first sensor to provide both visual and audible warning of the presence of objects behind a vehicle without altering standard driving procedures by the operator. The interior indicator can be mounted in any location within the driver's compartment. Available in nine standard models, the Guardian Alert can accommodate most vehicle adaptations.
"Sometimes the simplest tests yield the most information," said John JJ Kraus, Executive Vice President Sales, S&S Distributing. "We placed our new unit in a dishwasher and cylced the wash and heat for 60 cycles then tested the unit in both a static and road test, the unit performed to 100% of expectation. There aren't many products that can stand up to this sort of treatment and still continue to perform as designed."
